ეს არის საქართველოს ყოფილი თავდაცვის და შინაგან საქმეთა მინისტრის ბაჩო ახალაიას ბლოგი. 2009-2012 წლის პერიოდში მან თავდაცვის სფეროში უმნიშვნელოვანესი რეფორმები გაატარა, კერძოდ მის დროს დაინერგა წვრთნისა და განათლების თანამედროვე კურსები, დაარსდა სამხედრო აკადემია და კადეტთა სკოლა. სწორედ მისი მინისტრობის პერიოდში საფუძველი ჩაეყარა ქართულ სამხედრო წარმოებას.
ბაჩო ახალაია ამჟამად პოლიტიკური პატიმარია. 2012 წლის საპარლამენტო არჩევნების შემდეგ ბიძინა ივანიშვილის ხელმძღვანელობით ქართული ოცნების პოლიტიკურმა გუნდმა საქართველოში ფართომაშტაბიანი პოლიტიკური დევნის კამპანია დაიწყო. საქართველოს მე-3 პრეზიდენტი მიხეილ სააკაშვილი, საქართველოს გენერალური შტაბის უფროსი გიორგი კალანდაძე და სხვა ყოფილი თანამდებობის პირები იძულებული იყვნენ დაეტოვებინათ საქართველო. პოლიტიკურ პატიმრობაში იმყოფებიან საქართველოს ყოფილი შინაგან საქმეთა და პრემიერ მინისტრი, მაღალი რანგის სამხედრო ოფიცრები და სამართალდამცავი უწყების ყოფილი თანამდებობის პირები. პოლიტიკური დევნის არსებობის ფაქტი საქართველოში დადასტურებულია საერთაშორისო ორგანიზაციების, ჩრდილო-ატლანტიკური ალიანსის საპარლამენტო ასამბლეის და ევროპის საბჭოს საპარლამენტო ასამბლეის რეზოლუციებში. 2014 წლის ეუთოს მიერ ჩატარებული სასამართლოს მონიტორინგის ანგარიში მკაფიოდ ასახავს შერჩევითი მართლმსაჯულების ფაქტებს.
თითქმის ხუთ წლიანი პატიმრობის განმავლობაში ბაჩო ახალაიამ გააგრძელა თავდაცვისა და უსაფრთხოების სფეროს შესწავლა და კვლევა. შედეგად, მას გაუჩნდა იდეა შექმნას თანამედროვე დასავლური სტანდარტების სტრატეგიული სწავლების კურსი. საქართველოს მდებარეობის და არსებული მწვავე საფრთხეების და გამოწვევების პირობებში ასეთ კურსს დიდი მნიშვნელობა ენიჭება.
ეს ბლოგი შეიქმნა ბაჩო ახალაიას ოჯახის წევრების, მეგობრების და ადვოკატების დახმარებით. აქ გამოქვეყნდება ბაჩო ახალაიას მოსაზრებები სხვადასხვა მნიშვნელოვან საკითხებზე თავდაცვის და უსაფრთხოების სფეროში. ჩვენ ვიქნებით მოხარულები, თუ ყველა დაინტერესებული პირი, სტუდენტი, სამხედრო, პოლიტიკოსი მოგვაწოდებს საკუთარ რჩევებს და იდეებს.

Mr. Akhalaia was serving as Minister of Defense of Georgia since the end 2008 after Russia – Georgia war and later as Minister of Interior of Georgia under President Mikheil Saakashvili. Under his leadership a number of significant reforms were implemented in defense field, namely establishment of Military Academy, School of Cadets, introduction of Western type military training and educational courses, launching production of military hardware and light weaponry, strengthening defense capabilities.
Since 2012 parliamentary elections, first ever peaceful transition of power occurred in Georgia and President Saakashvili’s party moved to opposition. Unfortunately, new government under Oligarch Ivanishvili ( Russian style oligarch strongman, who accrued his capital in Russia of 90th) initiated large scale political retribution campaign against former governmental officials – President Saakashvili and former Chief of General Staff of Georgian Army had to leave country due to unsubstantiated criminal cases, former Prime Minister and Interior Minister, a number of other officials along with Mr. Akhalaia are arrested. Facts of political prosecution and examples of selective justice are verified by number of international institutions, namely NATO Parliamentary Assembly, European Parliament, Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly, OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Trial Monitoring Report 2014, statements by US State Department and high officials of EU and different European countries.
Being in detention and consequently having ample time to work and research, he came up with an idea to establish Strategic Studies course aiming at enhancing public awareness in strategic studies, military, politics, and diplomacy . Taking into consideration Georgia’s geographic location and current challenges of world security and setbacks in democracy development, educational programs for students, young scholars, experts, policy makers and interested citizens is of vital importance.
He launched this blog with the help of his family members, friends and lawyers. This site aims at publishing his ideas and views on various issues on security, defense and politics. Recommendations and ideas from interested persons are more then welcome and will be delivered to Mr. Akhalaia.
